The Indian Health Service (IHS) Injury Prevention Program (IPP) provides funding for Tribes to develop their capacity and infrastructure in injury and violence prevention. The goal is to address the disparity in injury rates among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people.This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) has two separate, competitive parts. (Other - Urban Indian organizations - Urban Indian organization as defined by 25 U.S.C. 1603(29), that is currently administering a contract or receiving an award pursuant to 25 U.S.C. 1653.The term "Urban Indian organization" means a nonprofit corporate body situated in an urban center, governed by an urban Indian controlled board of directors, and providing for the maximum participation of all interested Indian groups and individuals, which body is capable of legally cooperating with other public and private entities for the purpose of performing the activities described in 25 U.S.C. 1653(a).You must provide proof of nonprofit status. See attachments.)Other eligibility criteriaThis cooperative agreement opportunity is available to any applicant regardless of whether or not they have previously received IHS IPP Part I or Part II funding.To be eligible for Part I, you must include proof that your IHS user population is at least 2,500. If you are applying for Part I, include documentation in the IHS user population attachment.There is no minimum population requirement for Part II.
