Description
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), in collaboration with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for discovery and mechanistic research to advance the understanding of cardiovascular disease in type 1 diabetes through a continuation of the CARE-T1D consortium. A consortium of six research teams was formed in 2024 through RFA-DK-23-021 to conduct hypothesis-driven research on the pathogenesis of cardiac disease in T1D using multi-omics and molecular approaches, leveraging the CARE-T1D resources. This NOFO will utilize the U mechanism activity code U01 mechanism for the investigative teams. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of cardiovascular disease in T1D are encouraged to consider applying for this new NOFO. In addition, collaborative investigations combining expertise in T2D, atherosclerosis, Inflammation, and cutting-edge omics techniques will be encouraged, and these investigators should also consider applying for this NOFO.
