Purpose of Program: Through CSP Developer Grants, the Department provides grants on a competitive basis to charter school developers to enable them to open new charter schools or to replicate or expand high-quality charter schools in States that do not currently have a CSP State Entity grant under section 4303 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA).
Charter schools that receive financial assistance through CSP Developer Grants provide elementary or secondary education, or both, and may also serve students in early childhood education programs or postsecondary students, consistent with the terms of their charter.
