In addition, the NFE shall conduct and oversee, as directed by DPAA, systematic scientific research and analyses of methods and techniques applicable to the investigation, recovery, and identification of human remains, as applicable to the casualty accounting mission. The primary desired output is assistance with locating, recovering, and identifying remains to return to families. The secondary desired output is an ability to render a more complete story of the circumstances of loss for each casualty and the U.S. government’s efforts to provide resolution. The period of performance will extend for one year following award of cooperative agreement, with an option for a follow-on extension year if mutually agreed upon by USACE, DPAA and the NFE.
