Last Updated: July 28, 2026

Description

The NIBIB intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for NIBIB Technology Development Network Coordinating Centers.  These Coordinating Centers are designed to bring scientific and engineering communities together to solve translational problems.  The Coordinating Centers will be responsible for enhancing integration between components of the Network by facilitating opportunities for collaborations across technology development projects.  Also, the Coordinating Centers will disseminate program advances, develop resources and outreach strategies for engaging the broader biomedical research community, and manage an Opportunity Funds program to rapidly fund and support promising small-scale work that advances translational development of innovative platform technologies.

Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.  This NOFO will utilize the U24 activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO. In addition, collaborative partnerships combining expertise in engineering and translation will be encouraged and these investigators should also begin considering applying for this application.  Forecasts for specific Technology Development Centers will follow.
