Description
The U.S. Mission Türkiye invites proposals for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Türkiye through programming that advances U.S. interests and enhances bilateral cooperation. All proposals must include a U.S. cultural element, or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives, unless otherwise stated below. In all priority program areas, innovative projects that promote U.S. innovation, technology, and entrepreneurial collaborations and/or expand existing networks across sectors that promote accurate understanding of U.S. values, institutions, and culture are strongly encouraged.
...Priority Program Areas:
• Shared Security: Promote regional security through projects that expand cooperation to deter transnational threats, address factors that contribute to illegal immigration to the United States, and/or deepen understanding of U.S. national security issues among key audiences.
Sample Activities:
Ø Policy dialogue workshops with policy leaders and specific audiences on strengthening security cooperation aligned with NATO commitment and/or U.S. national security priorities and frameworks, including cybersecurity cooperation
Ø Digital content awareness campaigns on the risks of illegal immigration, drug trafficking and/or human trafficking
Ø Develop innovative approaches for protection of cultural antiquities and deter illicit trafficking
• Economic Prosperity and Innovation: Advance economic opportunities that benefit the American people and U.S. businesses while strengthening commercial ties with Türkiye.
Promote innovation, including increasing cooperation between U.S. and Turkish scientists, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
Sample Activities:
Ø Develop a project that promotes U.S. innovation or technology and entrepreneurial collaborations
Ø A program that encourages business environment values of open markets, transparency, and intellectual property protection
Ø An educational program highlighting the advantages of partnering with or investing in the United States
Ø Facilitate higher education partnerships between U.S. and Turkish institutions
• Celebrating American Excellence: Promote American leadership in innovation, achievements in science, technology, and culture to strengthen U.S.-Türkiye relations, including shared values.
Sample Activities:
Ø Organize a science and technology fair that showcases American innovations
Ø Engage communities around major U.S. events, including America’s 250th anniversary and 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ø Organize events on the influence of American culture and innovation in Türkiye
• Combatting Adversarial Influence: Counter adversarial influences in the region, including by reinforcing strategic alliances.
Sample Activities:
Ø Organize a forum on regional security and the benefits of U.S.-Türkiye cooperation
Ø Develop a program that teaches how to recognize false narratives from malign actors, including the Chinese Communist Party
Ø Dialogue series with local partners and U.S. regional experts that explore the Chinese Communist Party’s influence strategies in Türkiye and the region
Ø U.S.-Türkiye tech alliance programs with Turkish and American software developers, civil society leaders, and U.S. cyber and governance experts to develop open-source tools that resist authoritarian surveillance, censorship and cyberattacks.
